Awesome Marketing Tips When Making A Trade Show Display
Your trade show display has approximately three seconds to catch a customer’s attention. Your display also has to stand out among hundreds of other displays or company booths. Try these simple tips to make your trade show display more effective:
Catch the Customer’s Attention
Start with a headline that is both simple and easy to remember. Shorter headlines can be printed in larger font, which will penetrate more deeply into the trade show audience. Even if your display is a small tabletop display, a bold headline will still be visible from several yards away.
Next, make sure your display refers to the headline. If your business headline is “Award-Winning Web Design,” then make sure that your display proudly showcases visual logos and names of the awards that your company has won. Also, if you don’t have a unique logo of your own, then create a logo before the trade show that allows customers to instantaneously identify your business.
Give the Customer a Snapshot of Your Business
A customer should be able to identify the purpose of your company with just one quick glance at your display. Write descriptions with bullet points, and keep your messages short. Also, consider supporting your short descriptions with a visual point of reference. A siding company’s trade show display, for instance, may use a digital display that rotates pictures of homes that the company has remodeled.
In addition to communicating your company’s purpose, be sure to include your company’s contact information via quick takeaways like business cards or brochures. You should also update your company’s URL so that your web address is memorable and catchy.

Stand Out from Your Competitors
Think of three advantages that you have over your competitors and promote those advantages with your display. If your top competitor has a reputation for being disorganized, then promote your company’s commitment to reliability. If you have a wider network of vendors from which customers can choose products, then promote your company’s diversity. Are you a new company without much business history? Then promote your innovative ideas. Don’t hesitate to communicate how customers will benefit from choosing your business instead of choosing your competitors.
Go Easy on the Visuals
Tell the story of your company using large and memorable photographs and visuals, but make sure that the display does not look messy. One to three large photographs will be more effective than a collage of small, disoriented photos. Also, make sure that you choose colors that have a harmonious visual relationship. Look at a color wheel and choose colors that complement each other. Alternatively, choose a single color and work with different shades of that color for a monochromatic look.
If you use text in your display, then use fonts that are unique but still easy to read from a distance. Clean visuals and a welcoming color scheme will provide a point of visual “rest” for your customers and will make you stand out among all of the other trade show clutter.
